With over 45 years of combined experience as real estate investors and developers, our founders understand construction from both sides of the table. We know what it means to protect budgets, maximize long-term value, and manage risk responsibly. Artifex Builders was established in 2026 by Moshik Regev and Guy Baracassa after decades of active involvement in real estate acquisition, development, renovation, and property management. The founders bring extensive experience in both New York City residential and commercial construction and development, as well as the luxury home building market in New Jersey.
Since 2001, the founding team has been directly involved in the development and improvement of hundreds of residential and commercial properties. Their background as investors and hands-on developers across multiple markets provided deep insight into construction management, cost control, and quality standards—understanding clearly what separates an exceptional project from an average one.
After years of being sought out for guidance, design input, and construction oversight by friends, colleagues, and partners, the founders formalized their expertise into a dedicated construction firm. Artifex was created to bring disciplined planning, thoughtful execution, and professional accountability to every client and every project, regardless of size or scope.

Moshik Regev brings over two decades of real estate development experience to Artifex Builders. Since 2000, he has been actively involved in the acquisition, financing, development, and sale of residential and commercial projects throughout New York City and the surrounding metro area.
Having begun his career as a home builder in Queens, Mr. Regev has since overseen the development and sale of more than 350 properties across multiple asset classes. His background spans both ground-up construction and complex commercial developments, with a focus on retail, educational, and medical uses.
At Artifex Builders, Mr. Regev is responsible for business development, sales, marketing, and overall firm management. He holds an MBA from Fordham University and a BSc in Economics from the University of Warwick.
Diana Hernández launched her real estate career in 2019 and quickly developed broad experience across real estate investments, operations, and lead generation. She has played a key role in managing high-performing call center operations focused on generating and qualifying leads for real estate transactions.
At Artifex Builders, Ms. Hernández is responsible for customer relations, sales, and marketing. She leads client communication from initial inquiry through project engagement, ensuring a seamless, responsive, and professional client experience. Her strengths include optimizing sales processes, managing teams, and aligning marketing efforts to drive consistent growth and client satisfaction.
Ms. Hernández brings a disciplined, people-focused approach to Artifex, combining strategic insight with a strong commitment to service, communication, and results.
Guy Baracassa brings over 15 years of experience in home building and construction, with a strong technical foundation as a trained engineer. His background spans residential development and construction projects throughout New Jersey, where he has managed projects from initial design through completion.
At Artifex Builders, Mr. Baracassa oversees all technical aspects of the firm’s operations, including design coordination, construction supervision, procurement, and execution. His responsibilities also include navigating zoning and permitting requirements, budgeting, cost control, and contract negotiation with vendors and suppliers—consistently delivering high-quality results in a cost-effective manner.
Mr. Baracassa holds a Master’s degree in Engineering from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, and brings a disciplined, detail-driven approach to every project Artifex undertakes.
James McMahon has a background in landscape and industrial design and entered the real estate industry in 2020, where he developed strong experience sourcing distressed assets and identifying value-add opportunities. His work in real estate gave him a deep understanding of property renovation, construction potential, and the role quality construction plays in increasing property value.
At Artifex Builders, James serves as a Project Manager overseeing residential renovation and general construction projects. He combines his real estate insight with practical construction knowledge to help guide projects from planning through completion. Known for his attention to detail and strong client relationships, James brings a results-driven approach, dedication, and integrity to every project he manages.
Santiago Bolivar Montoya is a real estate professional based in Fort Lee, New Jersey, with strong experience helping clients navigate the buying and selling process with confidence. Through his work as a real estate agent, he has developed a solid understanding of property value, market dynamics, and how renovation can significantly increase a home’s potential.
Santiago also brings valuable construction insight to his work, having grown up working alongside his father, a general contractor with many years of experience. This hands-on exposure to residential construction gave him a practical understanding of renovation projects, property condition, and the opportunities that thoughtful construction improvements can create.
In addition to his real estate background, Santiago has a strong track record in sales. Known for his natural ability to connect with people and build trust, he previously excelled as a car sales representative and continues to apply those relationship-building skills in the real estate and construction industries. At Artifex Builders, Santiago plays a key role in sales business development, promoting the company’s services and helping homeowners and real estate professionals connect with high-quality residential renovation solutions.
Daniel brings over 20 years of executive-level experience in construction management and hospitality, with a strong focus on commercial and residential renovation projects. He has successfully managed multiple commercial construction projects throughout Queens and the Bronx, overseeing scheduling, budgeting, contractor coordination, and on-site execution to ensure projects were delivered efficiently and to high standards.
In recent years, Daniel served as General Manager at My Home, a Manhattan-based design-build renovation firm specializing in apartment renovations. In this role, he led end-to-end project operations, working closely with designers, contractors, and clients to deliver high-quality renovations while maintaining strict timelines and cost controls. Known for his hands-on leadership, attention to detail, and problem-solving approach, Daniel combines deep field experience with strong operational oversight to drive successful renovation and construction outcomes.
